Over four days in late March, the most successful and passionate skiers and snowboarders from across the country will focus their attention on Lake Placid for the annual gathering of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame March 26th to 29th. Joining the Hall of Fame celebration are simultaneous gatherings of the International Skiing History Association (ISHA) and the North American Snowsports Journalists Association (NASJA).
This well-known and high-profile celebration is the result of Lake Placid’s once again rising prominence in the world of winter sport. From advances in snowmaking and sport infrastructure and facilities to sustainability initiatives to year-round recreation and attractions to our growing list of major events, and to our athlete development programs, Lake Placid is forging a renewed legacy. And the world is taking notice.
Hundreds of ski and snowboarding’s biggest game-changers will be here for the series of events and festivities put on by these organizations. The long list of exciting opportunities includes free and ticketed events, all beginning Wednesday with ISHA Film Showings and a reception all open to the public at Northwood School.
Among the other 12 parties and gatherings, the on-snow tours, the tour of Olympic venues, fashion shows, and other happenings, the four day celebration features two cornerstone events. ISHA will host their awards dinner on Friday the 28th, while the Hall of Fame’s induction ceremony will be held Saturday the 29th. That induction gala will honor this Class of 2024 Inductees: Sarah Billmeier, Barrett Christy Cummins, Denny & Chris Hanson, Hannah Kearney, Greg Lewis, Jimbo Morgan, Chuck & Jann Perkins, and Park Smalley. All the inductees are outstanding people chosen from over 70 nominees.
The complete event schedule is available at this Hall of Fame link.
The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame, ISHA, and NASJA have long pursued locations for their annual gatherings that reflect the excellence of their organizations. Here in Lake Placid, strong leadership is bound together with a keen understanding of responsibility, and the two together have elevated our Olympic Region once again to an enviable position on the world stage. The extraordinary period of transformational projects completed two years ago are not only serving the organization’s mandate and mission but also raising the entire region’s appeal and stature in the wide world of winter sport, in highly sought-after recreation opportunities, and in tourism.
