The New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority (Olympic Authority) announces a three-year partnership with Cambria Hotel Lake Placid – Lakeside Resort as the Official Hotel of the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series event in Lake Placid. This collaboration highlights Cambria’s commitment to supporting both the prestigious event and the thriving mountain biking community in the region.
As the Official Hotel Partner, Cambria will provide accommodation for athletes, teams, and fans attending the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series, which takes place this year on September 27-29 at Mt Van Hoevenberg. Lake Placid is one of 15 stops for the series that features the best professional mountain bikers in the world and spans 10 countries and three continents this season. The WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series will also return to Lake Placid in 2025 and 2026.
“This partnership is more than just a sponsorship; it is an investment in the growth of this world-class event and the broader Lake Placid mountain biking community in general,” said Tait Wardlaw, the Olympic Authority’s Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Sponsorships. “We are thrilled to have Cambria on board as they play a key role in welcoming the world’s best riders and the mountain bike community to the Adirondacks.”
In addition to being the Official Hotel of the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series event in Lake Placid, Cambria will also serve as a presenting partner of the live music during the Community Bike Jam, set for Friday, Sept. 27 at Mid’s Park. Hosted by the Barkeater Trails Alliance (BETA), this family-friendly event will include live music and a BMX Stunt Show to kick off the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series weekend. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about the local cycling community, meet World Cup athletes, and enjoy an evening exploring the shops and restaurants on Main Street.
“We are proud to support such a prestigious event and look forward to welcoming the global mountain biking community to Lake Placid,” said Lori Fitzgerald, Cambria Lake Placid’s Director of Sales and Marketing. “Our involvement in both the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series and the Main Street festivities reflects our commitment to fostering both sporting excellence and local community engagement.”
The debut of the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series in Lake Placid will include men’s and women’s World Cup races in three different categories – Cross-country Short Track (XCC), Cross-country Olympic (XCO) and Cross-country Marathon (XCM) – as riders battle for podium positions and earn points in the overall season standings. Spectators and fans will enjoy the ambiance of a festive atmosphere while witnessing the fast-paced sport from close range. As the official Hotel Partner of the event, Cambria Hotel offers a premier lodging experience to complement the action at Mt Van Hoevenberg.
