June 23, 11:00 to 3:00 pm, at the Lake Placid Olympic Center

As the world gears up for Paris 2024, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is inviting everyone to embrace the joy of movement for better mental and physical health with the Let’s Move and Celebrate initiative.

The campaign which started last year was a huge success. Over 15 million people worldwide joined in on June 23rd and throughout the year to move and enjoy sport. And this year, the former Olympic host city of Lake Placid and the Olympic Regional Development Authority (Olympic Authority) continue to support with a global celebration commemorating the founding of the IOC on June 23, 1894. Based on the pillars of “Move, learn, discover – Together for a better world,” the National Olympic Committees deploy sports, cultural, and educational activities aimed at everybody, regardless of age, gender, social background, or sporting ability. The Lake Placid Olympic Museum will be hosting an Olympic Day Friendship Bracelet craft activity together with Team USA athletes. This program blends sport with culture and education to teach visitors of all ages about the three Olympic values: Excellence, Respect, and Friendship. Guests will make an Olympic-inspired friendship bracelet while learning ways you can contribute to building a peaceful and better world starting in our community.  The Olympic Authority encourages the community to join the fun by creating or recreating iconic athlete celebration moves – from dance steps to legendary poses and posting them to social media with the tag @Olympics and use #LetsMove to inspire others to get active this summer.  Please find the press release of the campaign here 🔗2024 Let’s Move Olympic Day Press Release as well as more information on the regional events in celebration attached.
