New York State’s Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) announces opening dates and times for summer attractions and activities at Belleayre Mountain in the Catskills.

Belleayre Beach

Located in the hamlet of Pine Hill, Belleayre Beach goers can dive headfirst into summer with a wide range of activities, including swimming, boating, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, picnicking, horseshoe pits, volleyball, fishing, and simply relaxing. Opening day was this past Sunday, June 19.

Enjoy engaging arts and crafts projects for children and adults on select dates (participation is limited, and fees apply):

  • Build a birdhouse – June 27 at 11:00 am
  • Make a walking stick – July 11 at 11:00 am
  • Tie die t-shirts – July 25 at 1:00 pm
  • General arts and crafts – August 15 at 1:00 pm

Catskill Thunder Gondola

An eight-passenger gondola, accessible from Belleayre’s Discovery Lodge, transports visitors to the summit. At the top, riders can savor the breathtaking views of the Catskill Forest Preserve and walk along the summit. When ready, board the gondola for the return trip or hike back down. Open Friday through Sunday, plus holidays, July 1 through September 5 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. In the fall, the gondola only operates on Saturdays and Sundays, September 10 through October 9, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Disc Golf

A fun outdoor activity tossing frisbee-like discs from basket to basket, similar to golf and accessible for all ages and a wide range of athletic abilities. Belleayre’s 18-hole course has visitors enjoying both the lower and upper portions of the mountain. Players navigate open areas around the Discovery Lodge on the first nine holes. Holes 10 through 18 take players across the summit. Play either set or both. Discs can be brought from home or purchased at the retail shop. The lower course opens in early June. The upper course opens with scenic gondola rides Friday, June 24.

Hiking and Running

Belleayre Mountain’s trails offer outdoor hiking and running adventures with picturesque views to match everyone’s interests and abilities, from challenging climbs to gentle strolls on cross-country trails. Interpretive signs on trails even help hikers discover flora, fauna, and Catskill Mountain history. Additional Catskill trails can also be accessed from Belleayre Beach and Belleayre Mountain. Hiking and running are free and open daily.

Farmers Market

Shop this open-air market where vendors display locally grown foods and craft goods, including paintings, photography, handcrafted jewelry, handmade dolls, clothing, accessories, and more. The Farmers Market comes to Belleayre on four Sundays throughout the season – July 3, August 7, September 4, and October 2 – from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
