US Biathlon 2022 Championships – Recap
Many of the best biathletes in the United States converged on Mount Van Hoevenberg in Lake Placid March 25 through 27 for the US Biathlon Association’s National Championships. In fact, this event saw the largest field of competitors ever on US soil.
A complete modernization of the Nordic skiing facilities at Mt. Van Hoevenberg is credited by both the athletes and event organizers for lifting these facilities to among the best in the world for Nordic ski training and competition. An all new, well-appointed, three-story Mountain Pass Lodge and a new biathlon stadium featuring a 30-lane range are two of the big changes. A high-efficiency snowmaking system with a new reservoir, an additional 5km of competition trails certified to international standards, and a new competition layout designed for easy spectator viewing are others, and together, they all push the Mt. Van Hoevenberg venue to the top of the list of potential sites for national and international competitions.
