CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES – ORDA STORE, LAKE PLACID

The Olympic Regional Development Authority is seeking customer service orientated individuals to work in the ORDA store located in beautiful downtown Lake Placid. Successful candidates will perform tasks including, but not limited to: greeting customers and ascertaining what each customer wants or needs, opening and closing cash registers, performing tasks such as counting money; separating charge slips, coupons, and vouchers; balancing cash drawers; making deposits; stocking the sales floor; as well as straightening and cleaning the store.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to follow instructions and make decisions within basic policy and procedures. Candidates should be self-motivated, able to perform basic arithmetic functions, willing to greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner, practice good customer service, and be able to lift 20-30 lbs. Applicants should have strong communication skills and approachability. Previous retail experience is preferable, but not necessary. Knowledge of the Lake Placid Olympic venues is a plus.

PHOTO CONCESSIONS MANAGER

FULL-TIME | YEAR-ROUND

The New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority is seeking a full-time, year-round Photo Concessions Manager to oversee ORDA’s retail photo concessions. Regular responsibilities include managing a schedule and providing services that exceed client expectations during hockey tournaments, figure skating competitions, and sliding events; managing a sales inventory consisting of up to 12000 photos per day; creating photo products  (print packages, team packages, photo specials, and digital cards); negotiating the contract with the equipment provider and ensuring compliance; as well as troubleshooting and resolving technical problems (both camera and software).

The Photo Concessions Manager will also be the liaison between ORDA and the Photo Account Representative and provide relevant data to the account representative including, but not limited to, revenue reports, revenue projections, site tours, etc.  The successful candidate will train and supervise 4+/- staff responsible for photos and customer service.  Weekend, holiday, and evening work will be required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field along with two years retail sales experience.  Relevant experience may replace degree on a year for year basis. Retail management and knowledge of the Olympic movement desired Candidate must have excellent computer skills and be literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Photoshop.

PROJECT ADMINISTRATORS

Project Administrators generally provide operational and/or administrative support to the organization.  They are an integral part of the planning process for the responsible administration and/or maintenance and repairs of infrastructure with the overall goal of making venue administration or operations successful by improving efficiency and reliability.  In doing so, they promote a positive, productive, and safe work environment for staff based on the pillars of accountability and success. Ideal candidates will have a thorough understanding of business, construction/capital projects, recreational operations, and sport as well as a strong understanding of ORDA’s organizational relationships. Typical responsibilities may include:

 

  • Review and guide department planning for maintenance and repair projects. Work with departments to keep them on schedule and on or under budget
  • Work with departments in the identification of equipment and operational issues that require troubleshooting to allow the venue to operate in a safe and productive manner
  • Work with departments to determine needed staffing levels and ensure that staff is properly trained and up to date with maintenance and repair techniques
  • Ensure that employees are trained to perform assigned tasks and aware of the specific job hazard analysis for the assigned task
  • Work in conjunction with ORDA Risk Manager to ensure that operation departments are conducting and documenting proper and appropriate safety training
  • Assist department supervisors and managers in developing professional relationships with other ski areas/facilities, industry suppliers, and other key industry stakeholders.
  • Manage long term and cross-organizational projects
  • Attend meetings with the Board, various State departments and agencies, and key partners/stakeholders as assigned
  • Support venue management in their relationships with administrative departments
  • Strategically identify solutions and challenges that support ORDA’s mission

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in ski area/sport venue operations or administration,  preferably two of which acting as a supervisor or manager.  Must have an established advanced knowledge of operations and/or administration of a resort-based facility.  Ability to read and interpret blue prints and schematics are a must.  Public sector experience preferred.

CONFERENCE CENTER ACCOUNT MANAGER

FULLTIME | YEAR-ROUND

The Olympic Regional Development Authority is seeking a detail-oriented, motivated professional to be its Conference Center Account Manager.  Primary responsibilities include booking schedules that fill inventory efficiently that is both profitable and consistent with Conference Center operational capabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage day-to-day sales of year-round programs with the goal of maximizing a company’s experience in Lake Placid;
  • Actively solicit new business
  • Respond to inquiries regarding business and social functions.
  • Oversee and coordinate outside sales and marketing efforts undertaken by ROOST (Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism) in its efforts to bring conferences/conventions to the Lake Placid region.
  • Work in concert with our food and beverage provider to meet customer expectations of quality and value.
  • Work with Olympic Center in developing logistical and operational plans that include function setup, execution, and breakdown.
  • Work with other ORDA venues in developing event services programs at their venues.
  • Communicate with venues/departments regarding the availability of activities and function space
  • Work with clients to successfully prepare and execute their events
  • Responsible for program budget management, prepare estimates and agreements
  • Manage 3rd party access agreements
  • Manage all accounts payable and receivable, receive deposits and prepare final billing that pertains to the functions

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in hospitality/tourism or 4 years of work experience in sales or event marketing. The successful candidate will have excellent office skills and be proficient with computers and all Microsoft programs; be flexible, energetic, self-motivated, and well organized; and be proficient in setting, executing and achieving sales strategies and servicing goals  Must possess the ability to work effectively with all levels in the organizationKnowledge of the Olympic movement, winter sports and the Lake Placid Olympic Venues is strongly required.

CORPORATE DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

The Olympic Regional Development Authority is seeking a detail oriented professional to seek out and fulfill corporate contracts and responsibilities. The ideal candidate will oversee current and future ORDA sponsor commitments through fulfillment of sponsorship contracts. Regular responsibilities include ORDA venue signage, marketing activations at ORDA venues, ORDA collateral publications, ORDA websites, ORDA social media, ORDA programs, ORDA events, ORDA hospitality sponsorship services, and annual performance decks.  This person will work with both internal managers as well as acting as the primary liaison with corporate partners.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management, Business, Management, Marketing, Communications or a related field along with three (3) years relevant experience. Significant relevant experience may replace educational requirements on a year for year basis.   Candidate must be energetic, self-motivated, and well organized and proficient in setting, executing and achieving marketing strategy and servicing goals. Must possess the ability to work effectively with senior executives both internally and externally and work well with a diverse group of individuals. Knowledge of the Olympic movement, winter sports, and the Lake Placid sports venues is desired.  Candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications. Weekend work will be required.

DIGITAL SALES & MARKETING SPECIALIST

FULL-TIME | YEAR-ROUND

The Olympic Regional Development Authority is in search of a full-time, year-round Digital Sales and Marketing Specialist to support and develop digital platforms for all ski resorts and venues operated by the Olympic Regional Development Authority. The Digital Sales and Marketing Specialist will work with a team to develop, enhance, and execute digital sales strategies for Whiteface, Gore, Belleayre, the Olympic Center, the Olympic Jumping Complex, Mt. Van Hoevenberg and ORDA corporate initiatives. Primary responsibilities include managing and optimizing websites, supporting digital communications and sales channels, and working with ORDA marketing teams on all digital projects. In this role, the successful candidate will assist with graphic design, digital program development, and onsite marketing initiatives as they evolve.  We’re looking for someone who is passionate about recreation, organized, enjoys finding creative solutions, working with a team, and displays great attention to detail.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related degree along with 2 years’ experience working in tourism, recreation, or related field.  Relevant experience may replace educational requirements on a year for year basis. Prior experience with WordPress, Inntopia, Acoustic (email marketing software), or other ski industry systems is a significant plus but not required. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential as is a general knowledge of Whiteface, Gore, Belleayre, and the Lake Placid Olympic Sites.  Familiarity with Google Analytics, and Adobe Creative Suite with an emphasis on Illustrator and Photoshop are desirable; knowledge of basic HTML coding is also an asset.

EVENTS LOGISTICS TEAM

PART-TIME & SEASONAL | (APPROXIMATELY: NOVEMBER 10TH 2021 TO APRIL 15TH 2022)

The NYS Olympic Regional Development Authority is looking for 8-10 reliable people to become a part of the Events Logistics Team for the upcoming winter season. Team members will be in a logistical support position within the Events department supporting a multitude of national and international sporting events.   The goal of this position is to increase the effectiveness of all ORDA event programming by maintaining day-to-day logistics support activities required to accomplish the work of the department. A knowledge of ORDA goals and program objectives is recommended.  This position reports directly to the Events Logistics Coordinator and assists with duties as needed at Lake Placid Olympic venues. Work will be both outside and inside.  Direct responsibilities include: execution of event signage; daily event beverage distribution; executing event and function set-up; maintain, schedule and execute the organization’s sound system; execute award ceremonies; and assist in fulfilling transportation requests and administrative duties.  Work schedule includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.  Hours will vary by week and event.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a valid driver’s license and must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.  and be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. It is helpful to have an extensive knowledge of Lake Placid, winter sports, and the Olympic movement.  The ability to think and work creatively as well as be reliable, take responsibility and ownership of tasks is a must.  Having skills in carpentry, electricity and sound is a plus.

COMPENSATION: Part time / Seasonal position; Grade 11 – $15.47 hourly.  ORDA venue access privileges.

POINT OF SALE (POS) BUSINESS ANALYST

The Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) is seeking a highly motivated, task-oriented professional to be a Point of Sale (POS) Business Analyst to manage the ongoing development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of ORDA’s POS solutions (accesso Siriusware, Passport, and Axess) with a primary goal of providing centralized organizational sales information to drive business decisions and create efficiencies. As a designated System Administrator for multiple POS software packages, the successful candidate will work with ORDA’s Information Technology department to execute system implementation tasks (managing register and station configuration settings, system changes, and user accounts; performing and managing applications, operations systems and hardware installation) and help maintain ORDA assets and security as it relates to ORDA’s POS systems. This person will also be primarily responsible for maintaining general POS information including pricing, menus, POS navigation, package setup, configuration, testing and debugging; training of POS systems, including the creation of training materials and execution of POS employee training;  providing support for other related applications including, but not limited to, reservations systems and credit cards systems. The POS Business Analyst will work in ORDA’s Finance Department and report directly to the Senior POS Analyst.  Travel will be required.

QUALIFICATIONS: Associate Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field along with three years of practical experience working with POS systems ideally in the hospitality or recreation industry.  Relevant experience may replace educational requirements on a year for year basis.  Experience training users is required.  Familiarity with accesso Siriusware preferred but not required.

IT TECHNICIAN

LAKE PLACID AREA VENUES

ORDA’s Information Technology Department is seeking motivated, detail-oriented individuals to join the team as helpdesk technicians for its Lake Placid area venues. The successful candidate will troubleshoot and solve problems for end-users on workstations and point of sale systems. Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring ORDA’s helpdesk queue and responding to or escalating tickets in a timely fashion
  • Applying IT service management principles to Improve the ORDA helpdesk experience
  • Resolving network connectivity problems
  • Deploying IT hardware and services throughout the organization
  • Writing documentation and training staff
  • Low-voltage wiring
  • Server and network installation and maintenance
  • Troubleshooting and escalating problems to higher-level technicians
  • Implementation and testing of backup and recovery operations

This position requires a commitment to understanding the needs and priorities of both the IT Department and the organization as a whole and serves as a key support role in ensuring the efficiency of deploying IT services across the company. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, organized and a problem-solver.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Relevant Associate’s degree with a minimum of one year of full-time experience. Relevant experience may replace educational requirements on a year for year basis. IT service management experience is preferred.
