“There are two sides to every story,” is a timeless snippet of wisdom that is especially relevant when considering a trip to Gore Mountain in North Creek, NY.
Gore Mountain has long been synonymous for winter sports and recreation, yet beyond the snow, Gore’s flip side is a world of summer solace, festivals, and outdoor adventures. That is in addition to the two other contrasting sides of this mountain’s story – one tells the tales of its historic, community-focused roots at the North Creek Ski Bowl and another its many modern amenities and technological advances.
All together, these distinctive sides of Gore paint a more complete picture of the year-round destination it has evolved into here in the heart of the Adirondacks.
Historical Hub Turned Summer Central
Where New York State’s first T-bar welcomed thousands fresh off the ski trains in the mid-1930s, new developments at the Ski Bowl are now realizing a long-standing vision to create a four-season destination for travelers and adventurers, all within walking distance to downtown North Creek.
The Station Lodge is everyone’s ultimate base camp and a cozy and spacious new focal point that’s not only primed for gearing up for a day of fun but also well-appointed for winding down and relaxing. It’s new Timber & Thyme Restaurant and Bar serves up delicious comfort food and drink, providing the perfect place to enjoy lunch or dinner in a quintessential Adirondack setting. Just downstairs is Trailside Outfitters, ready and waiting for anyone needing a key piece of gear they left at home or those looking for a unique piece of Gore memorabilia. Plus, with floor to ceiling windows and two outdoor decks, The Station has a way of making the outdoors come alive.
This summer and fall, the Ski Bowl will also feature:
• Scenic Skyrides on the new Hudson Chair quad lift to make sightseeing more accessible and easier for everyone.
• Hiking and mountain biking on Ski Bowl trails is ideal for a wide range of ability levels. Cross country mountain biking is now available, and downhill mountain biking with life access is coming soon, featuring 1,000 feet of challenging vertical terrain on both wooded single track and wide-open ski trails.
• This fall, the addition of the Ruby Rush Zip Coaster will offer a unique and exciting new adventure attraction that will transport visitors on a beautiful yet thrilling ride through the mountain’s pristine forest.
• A brand-new Music at the Bowl series will showcase live music easy walking distance from downtown North Creek on select Fridays from 5:30 to 9:00 pm (June 12 & 26 | July 10 & 24 | August 7 & 14)
• The Gore Auto Showcase Series is three events in one with meetups at the Ski Bowl on June 20 and July 18 as well as the big main mountain show with awards on August 15, drawing automotive enthusiasts from across the Capital Region and beyond.
Additionally, at the Main Mountain, Harvest Fest will welcome thousands October 10 and 11 to bask in the brilliance of the region’s peak fall foliage. Featuring Scenic Skyrides, live music, entertainment for kids, and an expansive vendor market featuring arts and crafts, jewelry, pottery, artwork, baked goods, and all manner of tasty foods, there is something here for everyone.
A Many-Sided Destination for Unique Experiences
There truly is no other place like it. Take the historic charm of North Creek and its Ski Bowl, mix in contemporary new comforts plus awe-inspiring activities and attractions, and the region’s visitors have much more than just lots to do. They also gain a great balance of adventure and relaxation.
Altogether, these contrasting yet complementary elements create something special – a mountain that is not just a winter escape but a four-season destination. Whether you are chasing adrenaline on the trails, relaxing at a festival, or simply soaking in the Adirondack scenery, Gore Mountain offers a fuller, richer story. All of it is right in the heart of the beautiful Adirondacks.
