World-class biathlon returns to Mt Van Hoevenberg next week as Lake Placid hosts its first-ever International Biathlon Union (IBU) Cup events, February 26-March 1 and March 4-7.

Taking place immediately following the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games, the competitions will feature many of the sport’s top emerging athletes and serve as the final two stops of the 2025-26 IBU Cup season. Lake Placid is the only IBU Cup venue outside of Europe this season.

Members of the U.S. Olympic Biathlon Team regularly compete on the IBU Cup circuit and are expected to take part in the Lake Placid events.

Venue: Mt Van Hoevenberg

Site of the Nordic and sliding events during the 1980 Olympic Winter Games, Mt Van Hoevenberg holds an A-level IBU certification and features a state-of-the-art biathlon stadium, 30-point Kurvinen shooting range, additional Hora and MegaLink systems, extensive snowmaking, and the 55,000-square-foot Mountain Pass Lodge. The venue has undergone significant modernization and most recently hosted the 2022 U.S. Biathlon National Championships and the 2023 FISU Winter World University Games.
