Whiteface Mountain once again shows why it’s regarded as one of the premier ski destinations in the nation. In the Readers’ Choice Awards: Top 30 Ski Resorts in the US – 2025 by Condé Nast Traveler, Whiteface earned a score of 89.57, placing it No. 16 nationally and among the Top 5 resorts in the Eastern U.S. (Condé Nast Traveler, October 7, 2025).
Whiteface joins an elite group of Eastern resorts — including Bretton Woods (NH), Killington (VT), Stowe (VT), and Blue Mountain (PA) — recognized for offering top-tier ski experiences across the country.
Known for its Olympic experiences, history, and a steep, vertical drop, Whiteface attracts skiers and snowboarders from across North America. The ranking reflects its extensive terrain, snow quality, and unique Adirondack setting. The nearby village of Lake Placid was also recently nominated by USA Today for its 2025 Readers’ Choice 10 Best Award for top ski towns in the country.
Adding to its appeal, Whiteface is now a proud member of both the Mountain Collective and the Triple Play Pass, giving skiers unparalleled flexibility and access to some of the most iconic ski destinations in North America. Mountain Collective membership connects skiers to Whiteface and 27 additional world-class resorts across the globe, while the Triple Play Pass offers access to three of New York State’s premier mountains — Whiteface, Gore, and Belleayre — all operated by the Olympic Regional Development Authority (Olympic Authority).
As the Columbus Day weekend marked the conclusion of Whiteface’s fall activities, the mountain wrapped up an exceptionally strong shoulder season with a record-breaking Oktoberfest celebration and the first ever UCI Mountain Bike World Series that drew athletes and spectators from around the world. Oktoberfest saw more than 7,500 over two days while the downhill World Cup brought in 8,100 in a single day. The energy from these major fall events now sets the stage for an exciting winter season ahead.
“This recognition reinforces what our visitors already know — Whiteface offers a unique and incomparable ski experience, complemented by the hospitality of the Olympic Village of Lake Placid,” said Aaron Kellett, Whiteface General Manager. “From our legendary vertical and Olympic heritage to the benefits of our pass partnerships, we’re proud to represent the East among the nation’s best.”
