About IBU Cup
IBU Cup is the second-highest level of international biathlon competition, serving as a proving ground for World Cup qualification and future Olympic participation. The multi-discipline races combine cross-country skiing and precision rifle shooting.
The IBU Cup originated during the 1982-83 winter season and was called the Biathlon European Cup until 2007-08. Lake Placid is the only stop outside of Europe during the 2025-26 season.
Venue: Mt Van Hoevenberg
Mt Van Hoevenberg, site of the Nordic skiing and sliding events during the 1980 Olympic Winter Games, features a homologated biathlon stadium, state-of-the-art snowmaking capabilities, and the 55,000-square-foot Mountain Pass Lodge, providing an exceptional experience for athletes and spectators alike. The venue features a new 30-point biathlon range with a Kurvinen target system, as well as a 15-point range equipped with a Hora targeting system and two MegaLink target setups.
Mt Van Hoevenberg hosted the U.S. Biathlon National Championships in 2022 and the FISU Winter World University Games in 2023, following extensive renovations at the facility. The venue last hosted a biathlon World Cup in 2004.
