The New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority (Olympic Authority) is wrapping up a strong winter season with Easter celebrations, spring events, and competitions across Whiteface, Gore, and Belleayre Mountains, including the return of crowd-favorite pond skimming.  With longer days and softer snow conditions, Olympic Authority venues move into the late season, with events and competitions scheduled through April.

Easter Celebrations Take Center Stage

Olympic Authority venues will mark Easter weekend with distinctive mountaintop experiences that blend tradition, community, and outdoor recreation, making the mountains a unique destination for holiday celebrations.

At Whiteface Mountain, guests can ride the Cloudsplitter Gondola for an Easter service at the top of Little Whiteface beginning at 8:00 a.m. on April 5, followed by a family-friendly Easter egg hunt featuring more than 5,000 eggs.

At Gore Mountain, a long-standing tradition continues with the Easter Sunrise Service on Bear Mountain, where early-morning gondola rides bring guests to a scenic mountaintop gathering.

At Belleayre Mountain, Easter weekend includes a Sunrise Service at the Discovery Lodge, followed by a 2,000-egg Easter Egg Hunt, offering a festive and family-focused celebration.

At Mt Van Hoevenberg, Nordic skiing has concluded, marking the transition to spring activities, including indoor climbing at Hi Notch, a spring bouldering competition, and youth climbing programs.

Pond Skimming, Competitions, and Spring Events Highlight Late-Season

A full slate of competitions and spring events across Olympic Authority venues highlights the energy of the late-season experience.

At Gore Mountain, events include the Slush & Slide Rail Jam (April 4), Fun Nordic Races (April 4), and the Timber and Thyme Spring Meltdown Party at The Station (April 4), followed by the annual Pond Skim (April 11).

At Whiteface Mountain, the spring lineup features youth and freestyle competitions, including the Grom Jam (April 4), Strands Sesh (April 4), and Apple Butter Open (April 12), along with the International Pond Skimming Championships (April 11).

Record-Breaking Winter Season

Olympic Authority alpine venues recorded strong growth this winter, with skier visits increasing from 680,217 to 734,592 year-to-date—an 8 percent increase of more than 54,000 skier days compared to last season. Whiteface Mountain has also recorded a record year, surpassing its previous visitation record earlier this season. Gore Mountain set a new record for overall revenue, reflecting continued demand and strong guest engagement. At Belleayre Mountain, the season marked another record year, with continued growth in both skier visits and overall revenue.

Spring Conditions, Value Programs, and Season Momentum

Spring skiing conditions remain strong across all venues, with longer days, soft snow, and a full calendar of events creating some of the most enjoyable conditions of the season.  Late-season value programs continue to make skiing and riding accessible for all, including Swing Into Spring at Whiteface Mountain and Local Days at Belleayre Mountain. These offerings provide reduced-price lift tickets, rentals, and lessons—encouraging new participants and families to enjoy the final weeks of the season.
