Saatva Skate America returned to Lake Placid for the first time since 2017, bringing many of the world’s top figure skaters to the Lake Placid Olympic Center from November 13–16. Hosting this international event reaffirmed Lake Placid’s long-standing connection to winter sports excellence and its role as a training and competition site for elite athletes.

In addition to the competition, Skate America provided opportunities for local schools, families, and businesses to participate in programs connected to the event.
Student Engagement

- Complimentary Tickets: North Country families received free tickets for the Friday evening session (Nov. 14) through school newsletters.
- Official Training Sessions: School groups attended athlete practices on November 13 and 14, met U.S. Figure Skating staff, learned about equipment, took photos, and heard about local skating programs. Grades K–3 and 5 visited on Thursday; grades 4 and 6 visited on Friday.
- “Leave Your Mark” Art Project: Elementary students completed figure skate templates highlighting community pride. The artwork was displayed in the Olympic Center’s Learning Center windows during the event and throughout November for passersby to enjoy reading the kids’ quotes.
- Careers in Sports Panel: Middle school students, as well as 5th graders from the Elementary school, attended a panel led by U.S. Figure Skating and Olympic Authority staff that discussed career paths in sports, event operations, and related fields.
Community and Business Engagement

- Window Decoration Challenge: Local businesses decorated storefronts to welcome visiting athletes and spectators, sharing displays using #SkateAmericaLakePlacid.
- Food and Drink Promotions: Restaurants and cafés offered Skate America–inspired menu specials.
- Business Participation: Complimentary tickets and initiatives, such as the “Local Business Passport Trail,” encouraged community engagement and visitor exploration.
