WHAT: The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Nordic Junior World Ski Championships will take place February 11-16, 2025 in Lake Placid. The event will feature the world’s top U20 Junior Nordic athletes from 21 nations competing in Ski Jumping (HS 100) and Nordic Combined at the Olympic Jumping Complex and Mt Van Hoevenberg.

WHO: Hosted by the New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority (Olympic Authority) in cooperation with U.S. Ski & Snowboard, USA Ski Jumping, and Nordic Combined USA.
ATHLETES TO WATCH:
Tate Frantz (Ski Jumping, Lake Placid) – Competing in his fourth Junior World Championships and a regular on the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup tour for the last couple years, Frantz will be fresh off the World Cup event taking place Feb. 6-9 on the large hill at the Olympic Jumping Complex. At the age of 19, Frantz has already collected a long list of accomplishments, including an 18th-place finish at a World Cup in Wisla, Poland and competing in the Ski Flying World Championships in 2024 and finishing 20th overall.
Kai McKinnon (Nordic Combined, Lake Placid) – McKinnon was part of the U.S. team that won silver in the Women’s Nordic Combined Team Sprint at the 2024 Junior Worlds in Slovenia. She has competed in Continental Cup events in Europe and in the Youth Olympic Games in Gangwon, South Korea.
Henry Loher (Ski Jumping, Lake Placid) – Loher, a Northwood School student and member of the Men’s U.S. Junior National Team, came up through the New York Ski Educational Foundation (NYSEF) program and has competed on the FIS Cup tour in Estonia.
