WHAT: Officials from the Olympic Regional Development Authority (Olympic Authority) and the Town of Johnsburg will gather for a ceremony celebrating the completion of the first phase of the North Creek Ski Bowl development project, in which a new high-speed quad chairlift – the Hudson Chair – was installed and is now serving Ski Bowl guests.
Speaking at the ceremony will be Bone Bayse, General Manager at Gore Mountain and Ashley Walden, Olympic Authority President & CEO to celebrate the completion of the new lift and to discuss the next phases of the Ski Bowl project.
In addition to the new lift, an 18,300 square-foot lodge and zipline summer attraction are due for completion later in 2025. During winter, the Ski Bowl provides guests with daily access to alpine and Nordic skiing daily as well as backcountry skiing and snowshoeing. The major upgrades and additions to the venue will offer year-round activities including hiking, mountain biking and more in the summer months, while establishing a four-season travel destination and providing the region with significant economic benefit.
WHEN: Friday, January 24 at 10:00 am.
WHERE: The base of the Hudson Chair at the North Creek Ski Bowl on Ski Bowl Road, North Creek, NY 12853.
WHY: Established in 1934, the North Creek Ski Bowl is home to one of the first commercial ski areas and first ski patrols in the U.S. The redevelopment of the venue includes a series of projects that will honor the region’s rich history while positioning the North Creek Ski Bowl as a full-service hub for four-season activities and significantly strengthen the region’s appeal as a year-round travel destination.
BACKGROUND: The North Creek Ski Bowl is owned by the Town of Johnsburg. Since December 2002, the Olympic Authority has managed a variety of winter activities there and installed chairlifts, improved trails, upgraded snowmaking systems, constructed the Joe Minder Lodge with the Town of Johnsburg, and developed a professional Nordic Center with certified racecourses.
