In celebration of the upcoming Paris 2024 Summer Olympic & Paralympic Games, the Olympic Regional Development Authority has several local events and activities scheduled for this summer.

June 4, 2024 | 1:00 – 2:00 pm | 100th Anniversary Art Contest Paris

Medal Ceremony to Honor the students of Lake Placid Central School District who participated in the 5-country international Art-in-Sport Competition. In March and April of this year 61 local students worked on art inspired by the Olympic Movement. The art will continue to be on display until June 30.

Location : Miracle Plaza, Olympic Center

This is an invite only event hosted by the Olympic Regional Development Authority.


June 15, 2024 | 11:00 am – 3:00 pm | Igniting Dreams Craft Activity and Touch-A-Torch 

I LOVE NY Path Through History Weekend

New York State created the annual Path Through History weekends to promote the State’s fascinating history. Over 700 historical and cultural attractions host special events for visitors to immerse themselves in history.

Visit the Lake Placid Olympic Museum to participate in the free Igniting Dreams craft activity and Touch-A-Torch Program. Visitors of all ages are invited to create their own torch while learning about design and the Games. Two torches from the Olympic Museum collection will be on display for visitors to hold and learn about the significance of the torch relay and Olympic flame.

This is a free event hosted by the Lake Placid Olympic Museum. All craft supplies will be provided. All ages are welcome to attend.


Sunday June 23, 2024 | 11:00 am – 3:00 pm | Olympic Day 2024 

Olympic Day is a global celebration commemorating the founding of the International Olympic Committee on June 23, 1894. Based on the pillars of “Move, learn, discover – Together for a better world,” the National Olympic Committee deploy sports, cultural, and educational activities aimed at everyone, regardless of age, gender, social background, or sporting ability.

The Lake Placid Olympic Museum invites you to the Olympic Day Friendship Bracelet craft activity. This program blends sport with culture and education to teach visitors of all ages about the three Olympic values: Excellence, Respect, and Friendship. Make an Olympic-inspired friendship bracelet while learning ways you can contribute to building a peaceful and better world starting in your community.

July 26 to August 11, 2024 | Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games

  • A Daily Medal Count will be shown on monitors at different Olympic Authority venues as well as the Jumbotron in town together with streaming of live competitions in Paris.
  • Social Media Campaign highlighting Athletes who have participated in both Winter and Summer Olympic/Paralympic Games.
  • Olympic Mascot Scavenger Hunt: “The Mascot Mission: Town Treasure Hunt” will offer all a family-friendly activity, encouraging them to get into the Olympic spirit during the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games. Olympic Authority venues and participating businesses on Main Street will have window stickers of past Olympic mascots, both summer and winter editions.
  • Camp Placid Olympic Week – Ages 5 to 14  (This is an invite only event hosted by the Olympic Regional Development Authority.)
    • Olympic history activities all week at the Lake Placid Horse Show Grounds.
    • Wednesday July 24, Olympic Authority and Olympic Museum staff will visit Camp Placid to lead an exciting lesson on Olympic history and specifically opening ceremonies and parade of nations.
    • Wednesday July 24, Touch-a-Torch activity
    • Friday July 26, Camp Placid will visit the James C. Sheffield Speed Skating Oval for a day of sport and celebration.
      • 80 students and 14 staff members will be bussed to the Oval and dropped off at 10 am. They will reenact the parade of nations with flags and have students march around the Oval. Then there will be some healthy exercise lessons and inline skating.
  • Community Inline Skating Night at the James C. Sheffield Speed Skating Oval – July 29 from 7 to 9 pm
        • Wear your red, white, and blue and come skating on the famous Olympic Oval in support of Team USA
        • Entrance is Free to all and Rental Gear is available for $8 per person.
        • Public viewing of the Games in the Olympic Center
